He soon realized legendary Lake of the Woods was only an hour and a half from home and seized the opportunity to begin learning this amazing body of water. In the mid 90s, the Professional Walleye Trail held its Championship on Lake of the Woods and, in covering that event Curt became a much more serious fisherman. Soon after that, North Country Outdoors Radio (NCOR) was born, a Lake of the Woods fishing show with timely news and information on the bite and conditions on the lake. Interviews with local guides and resorters, along with input from the top Walleye Pros made for plenty of interest from all fishers and a radio show that quickly found its niche. The internet increased the range and scope of NCOR, so it was not just a radio show any more. The NCOR web page features, not only the daily broadcast as a podcast, but pictures, video and links to many interesting fishing related websites. Dave Sellwood
Email:dave.amy@myaccess.caHometown: Balgonie, Saskatchewan Crestliner Model: 1850 Fish Hawk Tiller Family: Wife, Amy; Son, Liam Favorite Fishing Technique: Rigging and spinners About: Dave began fishing at a young age with regular outings to a family hot spot his dad called "The Rocks." Like many young anglers, the challenge of catch fascinated him, fueling his passion to spend as much time near the water as he could. Throughout his life, Dave continued to fish for the love of the sport. In 2007, Dave entered his first competitive walleye tournament on the Saskatchewan Walley Trail (SWT), resulting in a less than stellar performance. Despite the lackluster start, Dave used this tournament as motivation to learn how to better catch the elusive walleye more effectively. In short order, Dave has managed to place in the upper threshold of all of the tournaments entered. This past year proved to be a successful year in winning the Crestliner Trumped Tournament, placed second on Lake Diefenbaker and three other respectable finishes throughout the 2011 season. Dave is currently planning his 2012 tournament schedule with hopes of repeating similar success achieved in 2011. Other Sponsors: Regina Marine, Tommy Harris Blades |

Still today she reflects on the memories she had with the two of them on what seemed like endless adventures together on the water. In the competitive world of walleye fishing it is rare to find even a handful of women competitors mixed in with all the male participants. Amy's independence as a woman is a contributing factor to wanting to compete against the men. She has been quoted as saying, "The fish don't know any difference on who is holding the rod, so why not compete. I can fish just as good as the next guy!" Sixteen years after her fishing beginnings, Amy started her competitive fishing career competing in the smaller, local tournaments with her dad and close friends. It took a first place finish and big fish of the tournament to get Amy hooked for life. Amy is only one of a few active women members of the Saskatchewan Walley Trail (SWT). Amy competes in tournaments on the trail as well as the unique ladies-only fishing tournament held on Tobin Lake, SK. Amy continues to move up the standings year after year, with regular finishes in the top 20%. Other Sponsors: Regina Marine, Tommy Harris Blades |
