Houston, Tex., – In the days immediately following Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall on Aug. 25, 2017, Crestliner dealer LMC Marine Center quickly sprung into action. The dealership deployed two of its Crestliner boats to help with rescue efforts in badly flooded Houston.
“No one questioned what needed to be done,” said Candice Overstreet, marketing director at LMC Marine Center. “Flooding was at a point where the water was so deep boats were needed, and we felt like we had the resources to go out and help.”
David Zall, LMC’s parts and service director, and Chris Kunschick, its parts manager, coordinated with the local Ponderosa Fire Department to determine where their efforts were needed. The dealership and the roads leading to it fortunately avoided flooding, making relief efforts possible.
LMC’s relief efforts mirrored those of Crestliner’s parent company, Brunswick, during both Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, the latter of which struck the southeast U.S. between Aug. 30 and Sept. 16, 2017. Brunswick sent more than 30 outboard engines, dozens of boats, 100 lifejackets, tarps, bottled water and more to help in rescue and recovery effort. Further, through the Brunswick Hurricane Relief Fund, $30,000 was distributed to more than 60 employees who experienced heavy personal damage from the hurricanes.
